A Thirty-Year Vision

Earth League began in the early 1990s — well before sustainability became a mainstream conversation. The vision was simple but ambitious: use design, storytelling, and accessible creativity to spark curiosity, care, and responsibility for the natural world.

The earliest Earth League expressions took shape through sports-inspired, nature-themed designs created for The Nature Company, Discovery Channel Retail, Banana Republic, and The North Face — pioneering work that used the emotional language of teams and symbols to build genuine connections between people and the planet.

Today, Earth League Foundation carries that original vision forward — reimagined for a new generation through free educational tools, illustrated storybooks, and hands-on activities for children and families.

Meet Lee-Eric Berry, Founder

In 2011, Lee-Eric Berry suffered a massive stroke. Hospital staff called a code blue to revive him. They succeeded — but for weeks he was unable to move any part of his body. His mother, aunt, and partner rejoiced the day he moved his thumb slightly.

After weeks of rehabilitation, he discovered he had permanently lost strength on his right side. The dexterity he relied on as an artist in his right hand would not return. During a group therapy session, patients were asked to draw a circle with their more active hand. The more ambitious might attempt a square.

Lee-Eric picked up the pencil with his left hand and drew a horse rearing up on a plain in front of mountains.

Everyone in the room was astonished.

He looked at the drawing and wept — not from despair, but from gratitude. At thirteen years old, he woke from a dream that he would someday lose the use of his right hand. He spent the following two years deliberately training his left hand to draw — preparing for a challenge he couldn’t yet name.

When that challenge finally came, he was ready.

In July 2025, Lee-Eric launched Earth League Foundation as a California nonprofit — channeling three decades of professional experience, personal resilience, and a lifelong love of nature into a free resource platform built for the children who will inherit this planet.
